Bitches Work

In the summer of 2011 as I sat stuck in LA traffic, my mind ran in circles thinking about my friends who were packing for the 6-month backpacking trip that I couldn’t afford.

As pictures of them packing their bags filled my mind, a feeling of complete lack of control overcame me.  There I was stuck in the scorching hot heat, going no more than 1 mile an hour, living paycheck to paycheck feeling like I was only doing bitchwork in my job, while they prepared to take off on the adventure of my dreams.

It became clear in the moment of frustration just how badly I needed to make a mental shift.

Out of nowhere the phrase “Bitches WORK” came to mind.   “I don’t have time for bitchwork,” I kept thinking, “I get sh*t done!”

As if someone just flipped on a light-switch in my world, suddenly my feelings of pointlessness and lack of direction dissipated.

“Flip the perspective on the word bitchwork, and viola, “BitchesWork” was born. Bitchwork was for those that lived in a blacked out state of mind. Me? I was too busy calling the shots.” (from Bitches Work)

Two years later, in the summer of 2013, as I began to pack my own bags for my dream adventure through Asia I couldn’t believe how far I had come.  Within those two years I had moved the corporate ladder, negotiated several raises, changed cities, switched careers, and managed to make my dream trip of traveling Asia a reality by saving $16,000.

All of my accomplishments I attributed to the power of the phrase “Bitches Work.”  It had not only lit the fire under me that first summer in 2011, but it continued to help me push myself, face my fears, have faith in my abilities and dare to create a life I always dreamed of.

I knew I had to share it, and so I began to slowly create what is now BitchesWork.com.

Since, my little baby has grown from blog posts to friends and family, to a lifestyle blog and shop where I hope to inspire women all over the world to believe in their own power and ability.

Along with goodies in the shop, I post an inspirational quotes which I call the #dailybitchslap, and sprinkled in the mix I interview inspiring women to share their thoughts on motivation, facing fear and going after what you want.

If inspiration and being strong confident women is your jam, I hope you’ll check it out 😉

Have any inspiration to share or know of a boss lady I should interview e-mail me at kat (at) bitcheswork.com
